A man diagnosed with the extremely rare Cotard’s Syndrome, aka “Walking Corpse Syndrome”, hung out at graveyards to be “closer to death” after he felt his brain was gone and he no longer needed food or even communication.
In what appeared to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, tests on his brain showed a metabolic activity so low it resembled a vegetative state.
Through a combination of therapy and drugs, he has recently begun functioning in society again, and currently works as a political consultant in Ottawa.
